Art Month

So I know that is Art month and all so I decided to share something with everyone that I thought was amazing. I do not know if everyone went to the Art show we had in the community room but Jamie Law created a few spray paint art and I thought it was awesome. I had know idea how he could create something so wonderful out of spray paint. While I was stumbling though, I found this guy who does spray paint art in minutes and it turns out awesome!

A Walk to Remember: pages 1-53

Looking back at his life in Beaufort, North Carolina, Landon Carter remembers every detail. When he was seventeen, he got into lots of trouble. He would vandalize property, cause harm to others, and oddly, eat boiled peanuts in the graveyard near their house. He did not have a great father figure as a child because he was a congressmen and gone away on business all the time. Landon's grandfather owned a company that was not doing the best. His grandfather started a loan banking business but when people would pay him, he would never give them loans back. So, mostly everyone in the town hated his grandfather, including Hegbert. Hegbert is a pastor who preaches every Sunday to the local church. His wife ended up passing away during child birth. He was blessed with a little baby girl that he name Jamie.

Jaime is a star. She is a beautiful singer and an outstanding actress. She is involved in so many after school activities and does not care what other people think about her. Also, she read the bible constantly. Where ever she would go, there would be a bible in her hands. The seniors from the local high school put on a Christmas play every year. However, this Christmas play revolved around Hegbert's and Jamie's life.

School started up and it is their senior year. Landon Carter was not planning on taking drama, but because it was either that chemistry he went with the easier class. Jamie Sullivan is going to play the lead role, since it is about her life situation. But no one knew who the lead male role would be played by. Landon, because his father is a congressman, was also pushed into doing student government by his parents. So, when elected president of his class, they are required to go to the school dances. Since Landon asked late, all of the girls were taken, except for Jamie. Landon used last resort and asked her. She agreed to go with him but he had to promise that he would not fall in love with her.

At the dance, Landon got into a brawl with his ex-girlfriends date. Jamie, however, stepped in and avoided a confrontation. When Jamie left to go to the restroom, Landon fallowed to thank her. Once in there though, Landon saw Jamie cleaning up someone else’s vomit. Even though Jamie and Landon cleaned up vomit the whole night, Jamie still politely thanked him for bringing her.

Reflection
This book so far is way different from the movie. I enjoy how I feel like I am reading a completely different book. In the movie, Landon's dad is a doctor, but in the book, he is a congressman. And Landon often gets in trouble in the movie. I believe that is just because the movie needs to be entertaining so kids do not get bored while watching it. This book so far has a lot of details about the families and has just got to the relationship part of the story. I know most people have seen the movie, and if you liked that, I would recommend the book so far going off what I have read.

Nominated Bloggie

I really enjoyed Tales of a Bibliophile. They had great reading blogs, but at the same time keep me entertained with the videos and pictures. I enjoy a challenge, so when I found the optical illusions, I was surpirised. It did not take me long to find the angry bunny or hidden bear, but it still was entertaining. I tend to like the optical illusions that mess with your eyes.

If your bored one day and just sitting at home, look at all of these optical illusions. There are so many that will just blow your mind! I know they sure blew mine. Things will disappear and you will see something that you thought was never there.

Analytical Paragraph: Pharrell Williams

Pharrell Williams dull white walls colored with unique art accompanied by open space out looking the city life create a sense of calm playfulness in his modern home in Miami. The colorful ball of stuffed playful flowers open the room when the curtains pull back and let in rays of sunshine. The unique spiral stair case portrays the house owner as adventurous. Pharrell Williams enjoys the bleak white walls of his modern house so he can decorate his palace with bright obscure colors of modern art. When walking on the deck of Williams house, there is a sense of elevated intensity. This is brought on by over towering the chaotic city of Miami. The pool is surrounded by immense green bushes and vines illustrating the calm relaxation of Pharrell Williams. The obscure plastic red chair with replicas of human legs to hold up the structure demonstrates the amused enthusiasm of Pharrell Williams decorating abilities. The boring white walls of Pharrell Williams modern house in Miami creates a majestic cheerfulness in the building over looking Miami's ocean line.

Dear John: pages 100-276

For the next few weeks, John and Savannah started to talk and hang out everyday they could. Not that it is a lot because of the community work she was doing, but they made it work. Savannah even got to met John's father and everything. Savannah was studying child disabilities and autism was one of the first things that they learned. John and she talked about everything you can think of. While John was visiting her house, she met a guy named Tim. Tim is an old family friend that has lived right by her family's farm for the longest time. They were best friends. John from first sight, could tell that Tim was in love with Savannah. That did not intimidate John or make him jealous at all because he new Savannah was all his. Right before John had to return to Germany, John and Savannah promised each other that they would right every chance they got. John was gone for a year. Once 9/11 happened though, John and his buddies reenlisted and he was gone for another two years without seeing Savannah. John could tell that the letters he was getting were becoming more distant. Finally, he got a letter that told him, she was in love with another guy and that they would no longer be sending letters back and forth.
John reenlisted many times after his rejection. He believed that Savannah and he were in love, but I guess they were not. John got sent around the world during the war. When he came back to the States once more, he visited his father and spent time with him. off he went to war again. This time when he went back to the States, it was because his father was sick. He ended up passing away from an illness. After that, John went to search for Savannah. He found her at her house on a farm living right next to her parents house. John new that she was married now, but still wanted to visit an old lover. He soon came to find out that she was married to someone who was sick and in the hospital as well. She was going through some tough times of her own and like always, John was there to comfort her. They went and saw the sick husband and wished him well and everything. They spent time at the hospital and John and him got to know each other as well. Savannah and her husband were having money troubles, but in the end, everything always work out.

Reflection
So if you have seen the movie, you know that they do not get married or anything. I think that is a crappy part of the book. But what John does for Savannah and her husband is amazing. It teaches you that if someone else is in need more then you, you give sacrifices. John in the beginning was a bad guy who ended up getting in trouble, but the army and a love got in his way and made him the wonderful guy that he is. And if i might say, he is pretty darn cute in the movie as well! The book and movie are similar, but if you want more in depth and a better picture in your head, I would recommend reading the book as well!

Dear John: pages 1-99

A young soldier boy named John tended to get in trouble when he was an adolescent boy. His mother ended up leaving his father and himself when he was young. He has had problems ever since. John when he got out of school, went into the army. He was afraid to leave his father because the way he his. John's father was focused on one thing, coins. That is basically all he could talk about and think about coins. So when John was growing up, him and his father would go around the world searching for a specific coin together. This passion of Johns ended once he became a teenager and wanted other things. John started to part away from his father talking about nothing at the dinner table every night.
As I said, John went off to war after he left High School, we went to bootcamp and thought it was the hardest thing considering his actions during High School (drinking and smoking). After bootcamp, John and his fellow soldiers were sent off to Germany were they were told to keep peace. There was not a lot of action going on there, but John returned to the States once his leave had started.
John's passion was to go surfing. When back in the States, John barely visited his father and was always on the water. There is where he met Savannah. She was with a whole bunch of friends on a pier when her purse fell into the water. Neither of the boys with her would retrieve the purse for her and she needed it badly. Then all of a sudden, this muscular man, John, came over and dove into the deep ocean to get it for her. Even though everything was extremely wet, she was still thankful. Over a period of time, John learned that Savannah was there for a mission trip to build houses. John and Savannah started to become real close over the two week leave that John had. But as we all know, all time has to end.

Reflection
I know people may watch the movie and think it is good or bad, but it is different from the book. The book gets more in depth and is better at explaining the details. I have seen the movie if anyone was wondering and if anyone asked, I do like the book better. The movie is just not as interesting as the book. All of the emotional roller coasters that soldiers go through. I enjoy reading books like this because I imagine in my head what is going on. The real world around me is just invisible to me and the only thing I can imagine is what is going on in the book. So far, this book is great and is keeping me interested in what is coming next.
